A study on the Spiegelberg IAP catheter was recently published under the leadership of Dr. Thomas Kausen from theUniversity Hospital Hannover (MHH). Dr. Kausen is a senior physician in the pediatric intensive care unit and in his study compares the use of the conventional vesical IAP measurement, i.e. via the urinary bladder, with the Spiegelberg intragastric probe (placed in the stomach). The result clearly shows that both measurement methods deliver comparable results, but continuous measurement offers the great advantage that impending complications can be identified earlier.
